More than 200 parents, teachers, friends, community members, and Soroptimists gathered at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa on May 14 for SITM’s annual Thanks to Youth Celebration. The event recognizes outstanding young people who are making a difference in their schools, families, and communities.
This year’s celebration included the presentation of two Youth Scholarships, each valued at $3,000, to students pursuing post-secondary education. Scholarship recipients were selected for their academic achievement, leadership, community involvement, and commitment to helping others.
SITM also recognized ten Unsung Heroes, students nominated by teachers, counselors, and school administrators for their citizenship, resilience, compassion, and positive contributions to those around them. Each Unsung Hero received a $250 Target shopping spree, and the nominator of each selected student received a $500 grant.
The Thanks to Youth program celebrates ordinary young people doing extraordinary things. Whether supporting family members, serving their communities, overcoming challenges, or showing kindness and leadership in everyday life, these students remind us that positive change often begins with a single person.
