Celebrating Soroptimist International’s 100 Year Anniversary
In 1921, Soroptimist was born in Oakland, California and has grown to about 1,300 clubs in 21 countries and territories throughout the world. Soroptimist International of Truckee Meadows (SITM) has been supporting local and international programs for women and girls since 1978.
To celebrate our anniversary SITM is teaming up with Northern Nevada HOPES to support the brand new Hope Springs, Northern Nevada’s first bridge-housing community.
What is Hope Springs?
Opening in March, 2021, Hope Springs is a safe place for people to transition from living on the street to more stable housing. Thirty individual sleeping units are supported by a central 3,200 sq. ft. facility including restrooms, showers, laundry, a kitchen, and community space. Residents will be connected to life-saving care and life-changing services through the HOPES clinic. And very unique to Hope Springs, the facility accepts residents with dogs!
Delivering Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
SITM will provide 100 meals to Hope Springs residents in March and April 2021. This is a community effort with local restaurants donating meals, local businesses sponsoring meals, volunteers cooking meals, delivering meals and providing much-needed funding to fill in the gaps.
